Act Up: Visual & Performing Arts 101 Incorporating Visual and Performance Arts into After School (Rigor & Revelance - Audience:  K-12 After School Professionals) Location South County Regional Education Center 800 National City Blvd. National City, CA  91950 Room:  Com Labs 1-4 This workshop provides an overview of the Visual and Performing Arts Framework and Content Standards for the State of California, as well as resources and strategies for integrating the visual and performing arts into after school programs. Ron Jessee leads participants in a humorous and information-filled journey that includes networking opportunities and hands on activities. The workshop is interactive and filled with great resources. Participants will walk away with a copy of the California Framework and Content Standards document, visual and performing arts activities that are connected to the standards, and strategies for connecting visual and performing arts to the core school day. This is a three day intensive workshop (Thursday, Friday, Saturday) that focuses on teaching the technique of PROMPT that is hands on tactile—kinesthetic input while emphasizing the need to integrate this into a holistic therapy approach. The workshop focuses on technique and learning the four levels (Parameter, Syllable, Complex and Surface) of prompting that support the broader, holistic philosophy and approach of PROMPT. YOU SHOULD ENROLL IN THIS THREE DAY WORKSHOP IF : You work with clients age 6 months-adult who have speech production disorders. You feel that traditional auditory-visual, or cognitive-linguistic methods of treatment are not producing the type or amount of change you think should be possible. You wish to better understand the motor-speech system, its development and organization. You want to understand the connection between motor and language systems.
