 Description
This workshop will provide participants with the latest research on issues affecting adolescent and teen female students. Specific topics to be covered include: Girls and Gangs Alcohol and Drug Use Aggression Teen Relationship Violence Body Image/ Women in the Media Research-based strategies and resources focused on 6-12th grade students will be shared.

Project GLAD 5-Day Demo
 Description
Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) is a model of professional development in the area of language acquisition and literacy for grades K-8.  Project GLAD's National Training Center is located at the Orange County Department of Education in Costa Mesa, CA.  GLAD's basic training consists of a pre-requisite two-day overview and an in classroom demonstration (four or five days).

The Roots of Literacy: Play & Language
 Description
This workshop promotes literacy skills and provides early intervention! Dr. Westby’s intervention activities work for children who are English Language Learners and pre-school children with disabilities. At the conclusion of this workshop, you will have the knowledge required to: Explain the development and interrelationships of cognition, play, language, social-emotional skills, and literacy Describe methods used to evaluate a child’s play/language skills Discuss the use of play to promote the cognitive, language, and social-emotional skills that underlie children’s effective social interactions and literacy comprehension
