These courses are the first in series of courses, it is anticipated that two additional courses will be offered during the 2012/2013 school year as part of the School Leadership Program. Purpose: Assist school districts in building the capacity of school leadership; facilitate the development of teacher-leaders who aspire to serve in leadership roles;  provide a high quality coherent professional development program that builds knowledge and leadership practice. Features: Aligned with the California professional Standards for Educational Leaders (CPSELS) Grounded in researchbased instrucitonal leadership practices and principals Informed by leadership needs identified by districts throughout the county

Participants will gain a better understanding of clinical mental health assessment/diagnoses and how best to support individualized educational program (IEP) teams  in addressing  the educational implications of such diagnoses.                   Topics covered: Developing assessment and service protocols that are  both legally sound and designed to maximize effective student planning.
