In this 5-part series of sessions, participants will learn how to understand the stages of team development, encourage team member contributions, analyze team's strengths and weaknesses, develop and prioritize action plans to increase ownership and accountability, and use the Systems Thinking Approach® to team building. District teams comprised of 5-7 members (including district & site leaders, math teacher leaders/coaches, and classroom teachers) are invited to join us for this innovative two-day workshop where we will:
Examine assessment in the light of the new Common Core State Standards and work being explored by the SMARTER Balanced Assessment Consortium.
Experience one expert and one apprentice performance task along with scoring protocols (break-out groups: grade 3 and Algebra 1).
Explain the formative use of performance task results.
Experience "next generation" formative assessment units.
Incorporate formative assessment practices in districts' ongoing work.

Guided Language Acquisition Design (GLAD) is a model of professional development in the area of language acquisition and literacy for grades K-8. Project GLAD's National Training Center is located at the Orange County Department of Education in Costa Mesa, CA.
