Pat Peterson is the former GATE Coordinator for the San Diego County Office of Education and successful trainer in instructional strategies for academically diverse classrooms. Some of the topics the series will explore:
Essential elements of authentic differentiated instruction
Practical ideas for setting up and managing classrooms for academically diverse students
Characteristics and identification of gifted children
Strategies for recognizing and accommodating multicultural/multilingual gifted students
Social and emotional needs of the gifted learner
A goal of the series is for participants to immediately utilize the strategies and understandings they have gained in order to provide a rigorous and challenging curriculum for all students.
