The video conference is to connect after school programs to local Workforce Investment Act (WIA) youth services throughout the state. The federal Workforce Investment Act through state and local workforce system (WIB’s) supports the increase of employment, retention and training for unemployed, under-employed, military and youth.
Partnering with local WIB’s can be a successful way to recruit qualified subsidized staff for after school and summer programs.
Collaboration with Local Workforce service providers can be a long-term sustainability strategy to develop broader recruitment pipelines necessary to meet after school staffing needs throughout the state. This strategy also allows after school programs the possibility to offer older youth access to meaningful employment and promising career pathways.
